Classes in Corvallis

Joan offers Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® classes Tuesdays at 1:30, Wednesdays at 10 am and Fridays 10 am at her office, Movementwise, in downtown Corvallis.  No matter what your level of physical skill and ability, these classes will help you learn to move better. You will enhance both your physical and mental agility by making a better connection between your mind and body. 

Classes consist of easy, step-by-step movements verbally directed the instructor, with a different topic each month, listed below. Usually, the movements are completed lying on the floor, but may also include sitting, standing and walking activities. Assistance is available at each class to help you get up and down from the floor if needed. 

Classes are appropriate for nearly all skill levels, from those recovering from an injury to those working to excel in physical fitness. Class activities are designed for both those new to Feldenkrais and those with years of experience.

RegistrationFeldenkrais classes at Joan’s office, Movementwise, require pre-registration each month due to small class size (7-8 participants).  Register with Joan by leaving a message at (541) 730-2812 or e-mailing her at joanlclapper@msn.com.

Location: Movementwise is located at 408 SW Monroe Ave, Suite M230, in downtown Corvallis, in the Benton Plaza, at Monroe and 4th Street. Call or email for directions.

Cost:  Class costs are based on how many classes occur in a month.  Generally, classes cost $50-60/mo to attend class once a week (4-5 classes total), and $90-100/mo to attend twice a week (8-9 total).  Classes are 60 minutes long.  A single (“drop in”) class costs $20 per class when space is available.  You may also pre-register (pay ahead) for single classes for $15, if space is available.  If you have not attended classes before, please try your first class free, but email ahead to make sure there is space in any given class.

JANUARY 2018

COST:  $50/mo once a week (4 classes total), $90/mo twice a week (8 total)

BEYOND the CORE:  Learn how the true strength of the core lies in our brain. TUESDAYS 130-230 pm – (January 2, 9, 16, and 23, but not the 30th) or WEDNESDAYS 10-11 am – (January 3, 10, 17, and 24, but not the 31))

UNLOCKING the RIB CAGE:  Find new flexibility in the neck, back and shoulders.  FRIDAYS 10-11 am (January 5, 12, 19, and 26)

 

FEBRUARY  2018

COST:  $50/mo once a week (4 classes total), $90/mo twice a week (8 total)

METAPHORS IN MOTION for the BACK:  Explore how perception influences motion.  TUESDAYS 130-230 pm – (January 30, February 6, 13, and 20, but not the 27or  WEDNESDAYS 10-11 am – (January 31, February 7, 14, and 21, but not the 28)

 SITTING on the FENCE: Integrate our two sides for better posture and balance. FRIDAYS  10-11 am – (February 2, 9, 16, and 23)

 

MARCH

COST:  $50/mo once a week (4 classes total), $90/mo twice a week (8 total)

EXPLORING SHOULDERS and HIPS: Learn how anatomy shapes movement.  TUESDAYS 130-230 pm – (FEBRUARY 27, March 6, 13, and 20. No class March 27) or WEDNESDAYS  10-11 am – (FEBRUARY 28, March 7, 14, and 21. No class March 28)

FINDING the FLOW: Enhance the speed, rhythm and smoothness of your life’s motions. FRIDAYS 10-11 am (March 2, 9, 16, and 23.  No class March 30)
